To sum up, we view the recent move in gold as justified by several factors. Post-pandemic growth in the money supply, nominal wealth creation across other asset classes, moderating or declining interest rates, and heightened geopolitical risk all support gold demand…. On September 27, 2024, we explained why we believe investors should allocate to Bitcoin. The price of Bitcoin is up 43% from the date of that report through April 30, 2025.

We think Bitcoin should be taken seriously as a potential investment. Bitcoin involves many risks but also offers an unusually high degree of long-term upside potential as the financial world rapidly moves towards decentralized (non-sovereign) instruments and deploys blockchain technology…. To equal gold’s $18 trillion market capitalization, the total value of Bitcoin would need to increase approximately 14-fold from current levels. In this sense, Bitcoin may have open-ended appreciation potential that exceeds even the fastest growing companies. - Dollar-Proofing Your Portfolio (76report, 9/27/2024)

On April 7, 2025, as markets plunged in the aftermath of Trump’s tariff announcements, we shared our view that administration policy would likely shift course and that the sell-off represented a compelling buying opportunity.

Trump announced a tariff pause on April 9. Between April 7 and the end of the month, the S&P 500 advanced 10%.

From a long-term perspective, we continue to view a severe valuation adjustment like this as a buying opportunity, especially considering the self-imposed nature of the problem that the market is facing. After potentially underestimating the severity of the market’s reaction to the Liberation Day tariff schedule, the administration has significant incentives to fix the situation. - Will Trump Pivot?
